Screwpile Foundations

We have divided work among group members and I was given the task to do more research on screw pile foundations.

As suggested by Mark, we have finally agreed to pick Screwpile as our foundation system.

Now, what is screwpile?

Screwpiling , according to www.instant.com.au is a process where circular hollow section of steel (shaft) with one or more tapered steel plates (welded to the shaft)are screwed to the ground.It is cheap, simple and is suitable for unstable soil grounds ( perfect for mod5 buildings!).

Connections to footings

The connection of screwpile with the footings is done using Y bars placed through the top of pile or e-flanges.
